Although preventable and treatable, peripheral artery disease (PAD) afflicts 8-10 million people in the United States and causes about 150,000 nontraumatic amputations annually, disproportionately affecting Black and Native American people and those of low socioeconomic status. To address the issue, the 91ÊÓƵ and 24 collaborating organizations have launched the PAD National Action Plan, a guide to assist in the prevention of PAD complications, treatment of cardiovascular risk and improvement of quality of life for those living with the disease.
